This thing still will not connect to my hub. It updated the firmware when I chose to connect to hub then it searching for device in our system but then it says Camera failed to connect Error Code 65535. I'm about fed up with it!

I have a VMB4000 Base station and trying to add the Arlo Essential Outdoor Camera HD 2nd Generation. It updated the firmware but still will not connect to that camera to the VMB4000. I have tried several times and no go.

It works for me. Thanks Arlo firmware team and James.

As earlier it requires a subscription to save videos, I have put the camera on a resell website with heavily discounted price, and I wasn't able to sell. Now I took it off from the website. With this feature, there probably will be more buyers reaching out to me, but I'd rather keep the working camera.

How did you get the camera to work on the Base station?

Mine keeps saying Camera failed to connect Error code 65535 and I have the new firmware update. This thing is still junk!

kb9hgi,

To get the latest firmware that allows the base station compatibility you first need to onboard your Essential 2 device directly to your home network to complete the firmware update. Have you done this?

After the firmware updates, you can then remove the device and onboard again selecting the base station option during the onboarding flow.

yes i had 2 cameras connected, and 2 that never was. the 2 connected, were already up-to-date firmware.. just had to remove and re-add connecting to the hub the other 2 that never connected , i did have to connect to let them update the firmware.. then disconnect and reconnect to the hub. I did have some odd issues with the finishing, but they all connected and showed the hub on the 2nd connection

Yes I had it on my wifi and it did the upgrade for the firmware. I then removed it from the wifi and I go thru setup again. It finds my camera then I pick hob/base station and it finds my vmb4000 base station but the camera will not connect to it.

@JamesC  thanks for letting us know that the Doorbell 2nd Gen is now capable to connect to the SmartHub, it works nicely. However, do you know how or by when Arlo is considering that the local recordings appear also in the "feed" tab please? As for now its quite uncomfortable to see the recordings via devices --> Smarthub --> storage settings... 😞

Is there a firmware update intended to connect the camera to HomeKit either via wifi or the hub

Tjhastings,

Apple Home integration will follow this update. Once Home integration is available, we'll post another announcement here on the community.

@JamesC  can this be implemented/allowed please in the app? It is providing the notification but not in the feeds, I think its more a "where you show the recordings" question in the App rather than a technical limitation.
