I have an Arlo Essential XL Outdoor Camera 2nd Gen 2K (VMC3052) and work with
VMB4000-100NAS base station, the camera can detect the local USB storage, how to make the camera manual video record to the local USB storage ?
On this e mail attachment, the last icon on the bottom of the screen show the local USB storage detected by the camera, but I am not to do manual video record to that storage. Any suggestion or work around is very much appreciated.

Arlo limits the manual recording to the cloud storage service only. No USB backup is allowed.

On the attached screen shoot, the camera detected the USB local storage(fourth icon on the bottom).
Does that mean the camera can access the storage to save screen shoot or motion triggered video ?

I can still remember my fury back months ago when I first realized this is intentionally disabled by ARLO 😡
local storage can store videos directly from cameras --- per fact that this is exactly what's done on camera trigger.
Both hub and cameras can of course be commanded by the app.
So the whole manual recording can be done at no (cloud) cost to ARLO, yet they are disabling it, just to push people to subscription.

It means that the base will store any motion-triggered or audio-triggered video. It will not store manual recordings or snapshots. To be clear, the camera is not "accessing the storage". All streams (live and triggered) go through the base, and the base does the recording.
Also, while the VMB4000 base supports recording, it does not support playback. The only way to see the local recordings with that base is to eject the storage using the app, and then connect it to a PC for viewing.
