I have a hub that services three cameras around my home. I require 2  cameras at remote position on my property that the signal from the hub inside my home will not reach. What is the most reasonable manner of connecting to those remote cameras?

Thank You

Without more specific information such as structures, distance and directions I could only advise running an Ethernet cable from the home where the network router modem is located to weather proof structures that have power and setting up a base station at each location to provide closer camera connection.

If running Ethernet cable is not an option you might be able to use a wifi extender with Ethernet option.

Options here depend in part on whether you need the hub, or whether the cameras can connect to your home wifi.

  • What cameras are you talking about? (smarthubs don't support Essential 2nd Gen yet)?
  • How far away from the hub will the two cameras be?

If you need (or want) to use hubs, then you likely will need another one, and you will need some place to put it that has power and is protected from weather.  You'll need to get ethernet to that location - either with a wifi extender of some kind, powerline ethernet, or running a cable.

Other options are to

  • use cameras that directly connect to home wifi, and then look for a way to extend your home wifi outdoors.  A mesh system might be the right option there, although there are also some outdoor wifi access points that you could use.
  • use Go 2 cameras that connect to mobile data, and get an appropriate data plan for each camera.
