Just bought a set of 3 outdoor cameras and tried to set-up, but kept getting Error 12800 and Error 4103. Here is what I tried so far:

  • Went into my router settings and set it from automatic to 2.4ghz.
  • Factory reset all cameras (even though they are fresh out of the box).
  • Power cycled my router.
  • Factory reset my router set it all back up again (2.4ghz of course).
  • Unplugged everything and gave up.

Same error codes each time when setting up with all three cameras. First it says Error 12800, tells me to check connection, make sure password is correct, etc etc, and to Try Again. Well, I click Try Again while I am a foot away from the router and then it says Error 4103. Rinse and repeat. Someone help before I return these.

Unfortunately, we don't have access to what those codes mean. However, the change from one error to another when the camera is a foot away from the router may be due to signal strength being too high (too close). Try to keep them, say, 6-10 feet away.

What encryption is being used for your WiFi? Have you tried a different one? Arlo expects to use WPA2 (AES) but WPA3 settings may be useful, depending on how the manufacturer provided it with backwards compatibility with WPA2. Any other security settings you may have changed?

Also, your phone needs to be connected to your home wifi.  If you use a VPN on the phone, disable it during the install.
