I have an Arlo Essential indoor camera. The camera works fine in conjunction with the iPhone app. I would like to follow my live cam via web. I succeeded briefly when I set it up for the first time, but since then I can't connect to live via web. I have disabled the firewall and opened the correct ports in the router, but suddenly it no longer works. What should I do?

There is no need to open ports in your router to livestream cameras.   And if you can see the livestreams on your iPhone when you are both home and away, then the camera is working correctly.

I'd start be removing the forwarding rules and re-enabling the firewall.  Then confirm that the iPhone app works when you are both home and away.

Then move on to the my.arlo.com on a PC (note my.arlo.com will NOT give you camera access when you use an iphone or ipad browser).  It'd be helpful to know more precisely what is happening

  • can you log into my.arlo.com?
  • are you seeing the cameras in the devices list?
  • are you able to access recordings?
  • what happens when you livestream?

For starters, I didn't have a break through on the live stream. I started searching for help and - after trying VPN, Firewall and Ports - got through and was able to watch live for about 5 minutes - but I'm glad that I apparently don't need all this. Overall, both my camera and my iPhone app work without any problems. My problem is only when I log in to arlo via web browsers on my PC, I can't see live from the camera.

Thank you for the suggestion. I have tried this. The camera and app work fine - both with and without these measures.

I have a PC with Windows 11. I have tried and received the same error in Chrome, Edge and Firefox.
    - Yes, I can log in to my.arlo. Everything works. All buttons and functions. The only problem is that when I try to watch the live feed, the connection never gets through and times out.
    - Yes, the camera is on the list and added as a widget. I can also see the recordings that the camera makes as motion notifications.

This is unusual...

Have you tried temporarily disabling any internet security software/antivirus running on the PC (as a test)?

Yeah - I thought so too.

Yes, that was actually my first move. I have the free version of Bitdefender and don't notice any difference whether it's enabled or not - the live web cam doesn't load.

I tried logging into my.arlo from my work PC - and on my work network. No problem. It loaded live web in a few seconds. So the camera works fine, as I expected.

What could be the cause of my problems with my home PC? :S

Is this the  2K Gen 2 camera?

No - it's "Arlo Essential Indoor Camera - Black."

There is a Gen 2 Indoor camera that supports 2K. But if yours is 1080p, that rules out HEVC/2K support on the home PC.

This is a puzzle, as it does seem to be specific to your home PC.  Is it connected with ethernet, or is it using WiFi?
