Hi everyone,

I recently purchased the Arlo Ultra 2 package, which comes with three Ultra 2 cameras. I set them up with my base station (hub), and everything is working fine. I also bought an Essential Indoor Camera Gen 2 and followed the setup instructions. However, the camera connected directly to my router instead of the base station.

While I can view the live feed through the Arlo app on my phone, since the camera isn’t paired with the base station, I’m unable to record locally. Additionally, the Indoor Camera doesn’t appear in Arm Home mode, which means the privacy shield doesn't open. This is a problem because the location I placed the camera is important for my setup.

In Arm Away mode, the camera works fine, but it keeps sending notifications when I’m home, which is why I need it to function in Arm Home mode. Ideally, I want to configure it so that it doesn’t send notifications while I'm at home.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

The Gen 2 cameras don't support base stations yet.

Arlo says they will be adding it (hopefully soon!).

You can add it to Arm Home - all three modes can be modified.

Per an update yesterday you are supposed to be able to add it to the base station now.

Base Station/SmartHub compatibility is now available for Arlo 2nd generation devices. For those that already have your Arlo 2nd generation device onboarded, you will need to remove the device from your Arlo account and re-onboard to see the option to sync with your Base Station/SmartHub. The following firmware or newer is required for this integration.

Compatibility list:
Arlo Essential 2nd Generation Outdoor - VMC2050, VMC2052 – Firmware: 1.5.0_1048_85f53f3
Arlo Essential 2nd Generation Outdoor 2K - VMC3050, VMC3052– Firmware: 1.5.0_1048_85f53f3
Arlo Essential 2nd Generation Indoor - VMC2060 – Firmware: 1.5.0_1048_0e78ae4
Arlo Essential 2nd Generation Indoor 2K - VMC3060 – Firmware: 1.5.0_1048_0e78ae4
Arlo Video Doorbell 2nd Generation - AVD3001 / AVD4001 – Firmware: 1.5.0_1059_eb10395

Compatible Base Station/SmartHub:
Base Station VMB4000 – Firmware: 1.25.0.1_4591_0201bb2
Base Station VMB4500 – Firmware: 1.25.0.1_4541_0201bb2
SmartHub VMB4540 – Firmware: 1.25.0.1_1680_0201bb2
SmartHub VMB5000 – Firmware:  1.25.0.1_1762_0201bb2

As of this morning I have still been unable to add my Gen2 Indoor 2k to my base station (all firmware has been updated to most recent and is what is shown in the list above). Not sure if anyone else has had any better luck.

I suggest first making sure that your app is also the latest.

Then you need to remove the camera from the account, and add it back with "Add device".  You should see an option to select the pairing with the base during the install process.

Yeah, I thought that too. App is most recent, and I did try adding the device to the base, but it just fails every time. 2 different cameras.
