For anything thinking about buying arlo essential beware you need to have a subscription in order to view your recordings. Which is much to high to purchase, especially given the economical down turn.

Yes that is why it says on box and product page "3 month trial to smart included". The product page states what is included with "smart sub". If you connect to a base/hub you can record locally without a sub.
