Arlo Essential Not Connecting to WiFi from laptop or iPhone?

I've been trying for weeks to connect my Arlo 3 Essential to my iPhone.  I even tried on my laptop.  I regret not listening to the reviews.  Any help would be appreciated.  It shouldn't be this difficult.

First, it doesn't connect to your phone. It connects to your WiFi. 

 

Is the battery charged? Are you following the directions carefully, including ensuring the use of 2.4GHz? Does your WiFi use a single SSID for both 2.4 and 5GHz bands? If so, can you temporarily turn off the 5GHz band for the purpose of connecting the camera? It would help to know all details of your attempts including network details and the camera LED indications as well as any messages from the app during the attempts. 

 

Also, be sure you're not using a VPN when attempting setup.
