Nighttime monitoring-alerts not loud enough

What do you guys do for nighttime? I don’t want to hear every little sniffle and small sound at night. But if I turn on the monitoring and set the sound or motion detectors I don’t hear the alarm while I’m sleeping. It would be nice if the alarm would continue to ring until I shut it off.
