Electronic chime does not work on any setting.

10 VA 16V system

Original doorbell button has a resistor running pos to neg.

Tried using the resistor on the Arlo with no success.

Light and voice ok.

Suggestions?

The Arlo doorbell may not work with other manufacturer's electronic chimes. You might want to purchase an Arlo Chime.

On a mechanical chime when the doorbell button is pushed the transformer converts this short circuit into mechanical energy, so a resistor is not needed. In an electronic chime, when the button is pushed, there is no conversion of energy, so effectively, you have a short circuit that could damage the chime. The resistor converts this short circuit into heat so that is why the resistor is needed for electronic chimes.

The frequencies that the current chime operates on is probably different than the Arlo chime, thus it is not working. I would just purchase an Arlo chime and be done with it.
