Traffic on my property varies by day and time. I have always been able to turn on modes for individual cameras on the fly. If I had a need to activate modes on the yard cameras for a few hours I would simple log into Arlo app click on modes and activate the cams I needed active for that time period. Removing that feature and forcing me into three modes (Home, Away and Standby) severely restricts my needs and takes away the most important feature I use. I spent thousands of dollars on Arlo equipment over the last year and now they have rendered them useless. I am looking for a work around.

Example, I have my home away and standby modes set. But while I am in standby mode (only doorbell cams active) I decide I want to monitor thew back yard cams for a few hours while I have workers back there. With the other app I would simply go to "Modes" and tap activate ojn the cams I wanted to activate. On another day lets say I have someone working in my basement and I want to monitor the basement. Again I could log in on the app and activate those cams in >modes". With this update, I cannot. I can either turn on ALL cameras in Home, away or standard mode which would activate numerous cameras I do not wish to monitor. This drains batteries, gives me numerous notifications for traffic I do not wish to be monitoring at that time.

I am hoping there someone has found a workaround for this.

If I cannot find a workaround, then I will have to find another security system. I will demand Arlo take back the cams since they technically "broke them".

Feeling Hopeful but concerned

You can assign cameras to different modes, Standby including (= it doesn't need to be Standby, but can have an actively recording camera as part of it), but essentially that's it.

If and when Arlo introduce editable modes is not known.

Essentially what they could have done with the old app is change its graphics and add a couple of things here and there, but instead produced this behemoth that isn't fit for purpose because it's also buggy on top of everything.

Thanks for chiming in. My workaround to only three modes is to turn some cams on and off each time I use the mode. For example if I am working in the yard I do not want any cams running except my door cam so I know if someone comes to my door. So since Standby is the mode with the least cameras (3) I manually go in and disable the two Im not using.

Suggestion Arlo, either go back to individual cams with the touch of a button or give us the ability to create additional modes.

Respectfully Yours

But, one can easily forget to switch them back on al specified times. And you always need to remember to do that. Therefore a custom mode is a complete necessity.
