How are you supposed to reply to an answer in a discussion

I posted a question the other day which was kindly answered by someone but there appears no way to reply to that answer ( I need to clarify something)

The only option displayed is 'accept as a solution', there is no 'Reply" option.

Any ideas

What you're trying to is certainly possible. After reading the above and checking out the Routines section to set up modes, rules and schedule, post back with any questions/issues. As you get started, there are options that can be set but don't bother with them yet - keep it simple.

Also not getting notified by email of a reply either which is why delayed reply - I've checked Junk mail

The article mentioned was useful as enabled me to figure out I have the App with Library not Feed as system is old and in fact uses a Hub so ahs following limitation:

Note: Custom modes can be set individually for cameras that are connected directly to Wi-Fi. Cameras connected to an Arlo SmartHub or Base Station can only have a single custom mode active at a time, but may have multiple rules for different cameras within the single mode.

Looks like either have to stick with basic Arlo system or look for alternatives if want a more programmable solution - and note to self that being an early adopter is usually a waste of money in the end and should wait till crinkles are ironed out 😀

It's not just custom modes that are only active one at a time - ALL modes have that limitation. In your case, you can build as many custom modes as needed with only specific cameras in them and use the schedule or geofencing to automate the switching. However, be aware that at some time you will be migrated to the new interface that uses Feed and those custom modes will be lost (unless Arlo adds that capability before that migration).

What do you find limiting with the programming? We can usually find a way to do what's needed if you supply all details. Also, FWIW (not much), I have had the Arlo system almost since the beginning. I think only @TomMac has me beat here.

There is a profile setting for that, so you should probably make sure it is checked.

This can make programming the schedule complicated, but it is not limiting. FWIW, the new "Feed" interface is limiting at the moment. Meaning that if you use "Feed", there are lots of common schedules that can't be done. Arlo is (I hope) working on fixing that.

If you have a combination of base stations and directly connected cameras, then you can create one schedule for each base and one schedule for each directly connected camera.

As far as the base stations go, you need to figure out what combinations of cameras connected to the base that you want to arm together during the day. Then you create a custom mode for each combination, and schedule those custom modes.
