Can you clarify what you mean? I can create a new automation with 5.0.4. Not sure if it matters, but I am using the iOS app.

Same here on Android. If the OP means he can't add a new mode, he would be correct - only the default 3 can be used.

That’s what I mean. Previous app allowed adding new modes. Why would they decide to eliminate that?

That's the question a lot of users on here don't know the answer to. One speculation is to match the three modes on the wired keypad, which is available in the US, but not in Europe.

First time I heard about this keypad but after googling it ---- I am 100% sure that's the reason of limiting us with 3 modes. How dare they push out such stupid design, and marketing! 😡

I goggled it also. Yup,the keypad has only 3 modes BUT so what. If u use the keypad, u only have 3 modes but that shouldn’t restrict the app. DDAMN poor programming!

haha, this is about dilemma on user experience design 😉

If you are designing a keyapd that users need to pay for, would you design it in a way it is functionally inferior to the FREE app?

If they kept the option to add modes and you did that, why would you buy the keypad? So they had to get rid of the option on the app to make the keypad a viable product.

You may 100% embrace apps, but I must say physical switches still have there market/product advantage --- ie there are people WILLING to pay for a physical keypad switch for control purpose. Think about lights switches, air conditioning control panel. And now it's the ARLO keypad this time.

It's not just a keypad. It's a platform that includes other sensors. But they did design it around the three modes, and unfortunately put in hard keys for each.
