I am trying to decide if I should get a wifi extender, another base station, or a mesh system to improve my connectivity.

Any recommendations:?

If using the earlier model cameras then you will need to either centrally relocate the base station to get all cameras using a longer Ethernet cable or use a wifi extender with Ethernet port.

If some of you’re cameras are beyond the base station range, you can use a second base station, again longer Ethernet cable or wifi extender.

Some of the later model cameras have direct wifi connection capability but would require subscription plan for cloud recordings. This is where the wifi mesh could extend their range.

Look for the camera VMC model number label in the battery compartment. Then reference the number in the article below if it has direct wifi capability.

If the camera has no removable battery it will be a essential wire free outdoor camera. If the camera has four batteries it will be the original arlo wire free.

The arlo Base station kit is supplied with a 6ft Ethernet cable to connect the base to your network router.

Normally the base is positioned at 6ft from your router which is not ideal if the central location for your cameras is further away. Hence the need to use a longer Ethernet cable to reach. The need to centralise the base is only if you are struggling to get reliable signal to all cameras.

What wifi extender do you recommend?

I don’t have a preference, you could also consider using a power line Ethernet adapter to extend the Ethernet if you’re sockets are on the same mains cable feed.

What mesh system do you recommend?

I do not have a preference and never used one, home is not big enough.
