ARLO BASE STATIONS

We have several different models of ARLO Base stations:

VMB5000r4

VMB4500r2

VMB4540r3

VMB5000r4

VMB5000r6

Is there any specific differences between the models? Faster? More capacity? or is it just when they came out.

The r2-r6 bit is just the hardware revision number (which changes when they need to make small changes - for instance when a component is no longer available and needs to be changed to a different one.

But there are significant differences between the VMB4500, VMB4540, and the VMB5000.

The VMB4500 is a base station. The main difference between it and the VMB4540 is that the VMB4540 supports the direct access to local storage feature.

The VMB4540 and the VMB5000 are smarthubs. The VMB5000 is dual band, the VMB4540 is 2.4 gHz only. IMO, that isn't all important. The VMB4540 has a USB connector for local storage, the VMB5000 has a microSD slot for storage (underneath the base).

But overall bottom line, there isnt many differences that I should consider for different locations. We dont use local SD slots or USB

Correct. If you don't care about local storage, there really isn't any practical difference.
