The VMC3030 model uses 4 CR123 batteries and has NightVision.

I am thinking that you must have the variant that only uses 2 CR123 batteries (and which lacks the NightvVsion feature)???

You can use the VMC3030 camera with the VMB4540. Not sure about the VMC3010, as it is no longer listed in Arlo's support documentation library (and firmware updates posted here only talk about the VMC3030, and not the VMC3010).

I'm fairly certain the original post is actually referring to the VMC3030 wire-free camera, which is compatible with all base stations and SmartHubs: https://kb.arlo.com/000062284/Arlo-SmartHub-and-Base-Station-Compatibility
