Batteries are fully charged, but when inserted in camera the battery life reads 50%.

Neither model has a silver edge. If your cameras use 4 CR123 batteries (potentially rechargable), then you have the original Arlo WireFree model - not the Pro/Pro 2. The Pro/Pro 2 use a single custom lithium battery.

If you have more than one camera - try the batteries in different cameras, and see if they are all doing this.

You could also try charging them in the camera, just to see if something is wrong with your charging station.

If this is actually the original wireless camera which takes 4 CR123 batteries, the likely issue is that you pushed the batteries down into their slots and one got stuck so isn't making contact. Since these cameras actually only use one set of two batteries at a time (the camera will toggle between them automatically to conserve battery life), remove the batteries and just lightly place them in the slots. Let the battery door do the pushing.
