We decided to purchase an Arlo camera system for our summer house in Alaska. We could ne away for as long as 6 months. How longg does the battery last? Is a battery the only option to power the camera? What happens when there is a power outage? Is there a battery in DVR?

Battery life depends on the amount of recording activity, but cold will also affect it.

The camera can be AC powered, and some have found that it will run at colder temps if you remove the battery.

Also, you should consider getting an IoT switch (wemo for instance), and connect that to the base station. Sometimes the base does need to be power-cycled to recover from a problem, so being able to do that remotely is a plus.

What do you mean by DVR?
