Does a live video stream from an Arlo camera stay local to the LAN or go through cloud?

I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum but I don't know where it belongs. I am trying to understand, does a live video stream from an Arlo camera stay local to the LAN (between say a laptop/phone and the base station) or does it actually go out to Arlo's cloud/Internet and come back into my network?

I am trying to setup a few dedicated cheap tablets to stream constantly from several cameras and I am trying to understand if this will impact my Internet utilization or only local traffic?

Thanks!

Thanks for the answer TomMac. That kinda sucks...and it's inefficient. There should be a consideration for users located on the same local network as the base stations and keep live traffic local. I have rural internet access and bandwidth comes at a premium so I am trying to figure out ways to deal with it.

Thanks again!
