Just bought two new package of batteries from Best Buy. Only reading 50%.

I have just bought two new packages of batteries from best buy and when I put it in our outdoor camera, the "new" battery life is only reading 50%. I know that both packages of batteries cannot be that dead right out of package. Has anyone seen this or am I doing something wrong on the camera?

First , what type did you buy ( brand, number )?

Second, pull batteries and confirm 1) they are in correctly 2) one of the springs aren't jammed or dirty ( if one of the 2 sets don't make contact, the reading is 50%)

They are Panasonic Lithium CR123. Took batteries out and wiped down the contacts and springs with Q-tip just in case. Put batteries back in and back to 100% Thank you for the tip!
