I noticed that Arlo is using the GPL license for something?

are they in breach of GPL by not having the source code freely available?

Have you requested it and been turned down? I believe from my limited law expericence, that you are only damaged after the fact... ( but then I slept at a Hol Inn too ) 🙂

after downloading it... it seems they think a compiled binary (.bin files) is source code?
