    <description>&lt;P&gt;It needs an etherent port... if you modem only has one, then why not a switch ( they are cheap as low as $15 , even at walmart ).&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;As to direct connect, it should work.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;most modems only have one ethernet port and that is used to connect the router. I think you could plug the base into that port but you should connect to a router.&lt;/P&gt;
