Which LED is amber? I am assuming that you mean the camera LED. Is your base station showing up in your app? Be sure that your base station is available in your app before trying to sync the cameras. Got to the Settings screen and see if it is there.

I cannot get my base station for the VMB3500 to connect to the internet. I can log into and router and see it connected and not being blocked, yet the base station is lit up Amber in color and not allowing me to set it up using the app. Any suggestions?

If it's the Internet LED that's amber, the issue is likely your router settings. Who owns the router - you or the ISP? If the ISP, they need to open ports 80, 123 and 443 to arlo.netgear.com. If it's yours, you need to either do the same thing or investigate other settings that may be blocking access.
