If you mount the camera upside down, the motion sensor will be above the camera lens. That changes motion detection sometimes to your advantage. In order to compensate for the image being upside down now, there is an option on every camera's settings page to display the image upside down too, in effect making it upside right for the viewer. The setting is called Invert Image and can be found on the device settings page for each camera.

So I am getting alerts but I don't see anything - for instance there is an alert at the front of my home but it show nothing - I have positioned camera as not to alert movement of the wind -- typically it will alert when a car, etc goes by but this picture there nothing there

Are you saying there's no video or nothing to be seen in the video? If the former, there have been delays in having videos show IP in the library. If the latter, that means your detection has too much delay or the motion is fast. To minimize this, you need to minimize the view the camera sees so ONLY the area of actual interest is included (don't try to include the whole scene), motion should be across the FOV (not directly at the camera) and motion should be within 10-15 feet of the camera (you may be able to get more but watch out for the rest of the above).

minimize the view? The camera is aim directly from above to my front so I can see the front door and porch -- I think I have it on 75%

Vallorie

detection has too much delay or the motion is fast. It is at 80% - it is above to the right of that window above - approximately where the ceiling light is

I suspect you're getting detection due to cars passing, hence the lack of anything in the view. Rotate the camera down so the street isn't in the view. Personally, I'd have it closer to the door, too.

The view from the door is closer than the street? There is not a lot of traffic that comes down that street - I was sitting right under the camera and it did not pick me up

Vallorie

I'd point the camera down more too, so that the street is at the top of the frame, perhaps even barely outside of the frame.

Also, try mounting the camera upside down, but oriented the same way to see if that picks up motion by the door better. This will have the motion sensor pointing in a slightly different way. In the camera settings is an option to invert the image to compensate for the upside-down mounting. You should also try increasing sensitivity to somewhere above 90 and see if that makes a difference.

Also, experiment with turning the camera 90 degrees and/or placing it closer to the door, maybe half-way between the closer ceiling lamp and the wall.
