The zoom feature only affects the video view, not the detection zone. Two different sensors. The PIRs will pick up anything in their entire view. You may be able to physically mask the PIRs from seeing the unwanted motion but it would be trial and error on your part. A better solution, if possible, would be to reposition the camera to eliminate the unwanted area in the first place. You may need a different mount to do this effectively (a threaded 1/4"-20 mount would be needed - Amazon has tons).

Hi all,

I get quite often false alarms for motion detection on my Arlo (VMC3030-100).

It's fairly a fundamental question: I positioned the cam outside on a window sill pointing to my house door. To avoid to have also parts of the public street covered I zoomed the picture to be covered in the Arlo settings. Will the cam detect motions that only fall in the zoomed area (which I assume and hope) or also motions that the cam "sees" in full view (which I fear because of the many false alarms). If the first is right, what options do I have to reduce the false alarms?

And secondly: I'm considering buying an Arlo Pro to replace this "normal" Arlo. Would this model be so "pro" that it's less error-prone in the same situation?

Thanks and regards
