Maddening setup and worse website ! Finally I can ask:

i set up the cameras,linked and sync'd, but I can't get passed the prompts that say "you need a firmware update." Every time, for 8 tries, that I tap the update request, I get a message of update failure and "try again" !

how do I accomplish the update via my iPhone?

Firmware updates will complete automatically overnight. Did your system update firmware on it's own or are you still experiencing this behavior?
