ARLO HD Camera

Hi people, I have noticed that there is a USB port on the camera. Can i remove the 4 batteries and plug in a 5 V USB power pack instead?

Thanks

Arlo Wire-free HD Camera Security System

Some folks have tried but the voltage from USB is too low for it to be reliable. The batteries provide 6+ volts.

Ok cool, thank you. I wonder if I can feed 6 volts directly to one pair (+ -) terminals, and will work ok?

No , you have to use both sets as properly setup with cells, with same voltage

Why not just use the Tenergy rechargeable 3.7 V batteries (or others that have been shown to work). Saves having o buy batteries and keeps your warranty valid.

The design of two banks of 6v batteries is to alternate which sets are in use to maximize battery life. I don't know the algorithm but you can run off one set of two batteries - you'll just see 50% battery capacity when doing so. If you were to parallel the connections between the two sets, you'd see 100%.

I was able to power the Arlo HD Camera successfully using the USB cord and usb power adapter that comes with the Arlo Pro Camera. Motion detection, live viewing all work. Arlo is selling an outdoor power cord for the Pro camera for $20
Ill bet that would do yhe trick as well.

The original Arlo Wire-free cameras were not designed to be powered through the micro-usb port or any other means. Doing so could damage the camera and void the warranty.
