topic Proper battery placement / issues in Arlo

Every now and then, there seems to be an issue with batteries on the original Arlo

I took a couple of pics to show proper placement of the cells , as I know on the newer versions, the sticker showing placement can be hard to see/understand.

Here is the proper placement of cells... back of camera is down ( be they OEM or rechargeables )

If you also look close, you can see that the terminals on the battery door are made NOT to short out a pair of cells if improperly placed in the camera.

If a cell is placed in wrong, the Positive battery terminal fits into a hole on the contacts so no contact is actually made.(this contact setup is use on later models of the camera, very early models may be different )

This setup is important in that the camera uses 2 sets of cells in pairs ( front and back ) and the camera switches between the two sets draining equally. If a pair of cells are placed in wrong, the camera will still function tho the battery gauge will read < 50% ( a problem seen now and then )

As a PS; Also the + and - are in the brass contact section showing proper placement ( also along the inside on a sticker ).

This is a picture of the Springs in battery slots, back of camera is down;

Some times, these springs get compressed. If they do, then sometimes putting a battery in, there will not be enough force pushing the battery up to allow good contact with the door terminals. When installing batteries, don't push them in, but let the battery door push them down into the slot.

If you are getting a low battery reading with new batteries, then this is one of the things to check. A gentle pull on the spring if compressed will free it.
