Okay, thanks. I didn't know there is a Pro Base. Is that what comes with the Pro bundles now? Can I just by the Pro Base and use it with my 4 standard cameras and 1 Pro camera?

Yes, Netgear mention JUST selling the PRO base by itself, but unsure if released that way yet

Any arlo or arlo Pro camera will work with either base unit.... BUT the usb drive option is ONLY on the PRO base along with a siren

Mind that the local record is a backup record... the videos go to the drive and the claoud at same time... If internet fails , it will continue to record to the usb drive. BUT you can't access them directly to view from the drive... you must eject the drive and then access the mp4 files on a local machine

( I use a 32 gb speed stick as it's easy to remove, and access in the computer )

When will we be able to use the USB Ports on back of the Base Station. We should be able to record to a local device also. We should have the choice. We spend a lot of money on Netgear equipment and should not be locked out of using the ports that they give us. Please consider this change seriously. Thanks.

Sorry to tell you, but TBMK, the USB ports on the Arlo base are not going to be upgraded...

Netgear allows local recording via a USB drive with the Pro base... if you look at the specs, you would see a newer processor and additional memeory in the Pro base ( which was prob needed for the usb drive function )
