My camera are up at the lake some 130km away They work for a few days then I get a message Your Arlo appears to be offline. Please make sure it is powered on and connected to the internet. I have driven back to the cabin several time to reset the unit and then it seems to work again for a few days. Driving back defeats the reason I bought the system. Is there no way to remotely reset the system?

Sometimes this is due to power glitches. A Good Thing to do, especially for remote installations, is to use a UPS/battery backup that your modem, router and base all plug into. That way even a prolonged outage can have no effect on the network and base station. The size of the UPS just depends on the current drawn from all the equipment plugged into it and how long you want to stay live. Nothing will outlast days out outage but a 750-1000 VA unit will provide several hours of coverage.

That may not be the case here but it's worth considering.
