topic Battery Life Question in Arlo

From the product descriptions says the battery life lasts 3 to 4 months.

I have my camera on for about a day, recording about 50 video clips and each clip is about 20 seconds long, and the battery already dropped 5%.

Let's calculate how many videos I can record based on the information that I have versus the information in the descriptions.

If I want to use the camera for about 3 months (approx. 90 days), then 100% battery / 90 days = 1.11% per day, which is about 10 video clips per day, based from 50 clips of 20 seconds video uses 5%. 10 video clips for 1%, and if it was 10 seconds long clip, then maybe 20 videos clips for 1%.

If I need to record about 50 videos clips per day, it will only last maybe 20 days. And if it was placed somewhere in busy area, recording over 100 videos clips, it will last little over a week.

When I read the descriptions specifically says 3 to 4 months, I thought it was weird because the battery usage is relative. I guess 3 to 4 months could be possible if it was not used often.

i think 50 recordings a day is probably at the high end of daily recording.

that aside, i've found in a cam of my 4 that was showing high usage and a trick i picked up was to open battery compartment and reseat the batteries because sometimes only one pair of the two pairs is making good contact. When I did this it now showed more than twice the amount of juice remaining

Mine lasts 3-4 months and occasionally has 100+ videos if it's really windy outside. The battery meter works in brackets so perhaps the battery life is actually at 99% but it displays 95% until it drops below that and then it'll jump down another step

The product description says 4-6 months battery life if the cameras are used 5 minutes a day in total. That's recording and live viewing.

Arlo isn't a great choice for high traffic areas as you will drain the batteries quickly.

Luckily there are now rechargeable batteries approved by Netgear to work with Arlo as the CR123A / 16340 batteries are expensive!!

In spec use of <5 mins per day , at best vide, I get over almost 4 months too... In a low use camera theats rarely used ( couple mins per week ) I just changed out batteries at 10 months...

Usage is related to battery life.

Will say that from all my tests, In high usage, the rechargeables will give more recording time ( over OEMs ), while in spec or less than spec the OEMs will last longer.
