If you mean your using a switch to give you extra ethernet ports ...yes that would work

If you having problem , you could try direct into your modem/cable device

initial installation failed. i am splitting off my router which is from AT&T to the arlo netgear base station. after all is hooked up i get a green light on the power led only. have checked that all connections are secure and all Ethernet cables function properly and still unable to connect. is it even doable to split my router to arlo? have searched for answers everywhere and unable to find an answer for my dilemma. any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you in advance for your time...

klm

You have to plug the base into the router, not the modem. Without a device, mobile or computer, on the same network, you'll never be able to set it up. So, modem to router to base - use a switch if not enough ports on the router.
