hi, I don't have a router....just a wifi hotspot. Is there anyway to make this work? Attach base with Ethernet cable to laptop?

The Arlo base needs an ethernet connection so it can access the internet servers... hooking it to the port on the laptop isn't going to work.

What may work if you have wifi access is a wifi extender with an ethernet port....

Use the extender to access the wifi hotspot and then use the port for the base unit... will need 1 mb up thruput

There have been a few users that ( threads ) have people running off cellular access too
