Generally, the software update is auto pushed out during the night without any user interaction.

If by some chance you buy a unit with older sw, ( common as to how long some stock sits on a shelf ) , the prgm should let you know there is an update available. Usu it's a click on the update and wait till the following day as update are pushed out late at night.

If it doesn't up date, sometimes it requires a small push... power button reboot of the base , open and close the battery doors will usu set it up to work the following night.

Sometimes its a waiting game.
