I understand. Killing it should kill it. Its a Samsung Galaxy S7Edge running stock Mashmallow latest and greatest (not the nougat beta). I did factory reset it and the problem still reoccurs. Something is not getting cleared. Something is stuck. I dont have this problem with other apps. I have a watch that reads my heart rate, the notification "reading your heart rate" wont clear while its in progress, but i can kill the app and it disappears. It disappears when it completes the function. I could turn notifications off in the for Arlo in the OS, but then i wont get alerts. Its not like its constantly happening, like once or twice per week. Its an annoyance, not a deal breaker. I was hoping others might pipe up and say 'me too' but apparently I am the only one.

Maybe Nougat will land soon and it will disappear with that.

By the way, for all you geeky types I have Nougat 7.1 beta running on my Nexus 9 and its doing swell. Aside from Arlo being no problem, its been very stable. They still dont have night mode in it, which i think they should, but there is an app for that.

Lately on the Android App i periodically get a notification "Arlo - You are not connected to the internet. Please check your connection and try again." Yes, I am . The connection is fine. The app is working fine. The ntoification will not clear away, can't swipe it. Clear all doesn't make it go away. The only way to get rid of it is to reboot the phone.

Jim

That certainly is the convenitonal wisdom used to solve most of the apps problems. I just did a factory reset about 2 weeks ago (for other reasons) so its a pretty recent fresh install. It was doing it before and still does it after. I haven't noticed it on other devices, but my other devices don't move about changing from wi-fi to lte and back in various locations like my phone does.

But, i also can't notice a particular transition that creates the notification. That notification, however, is never removable. Once its there, the phone needs a restart to get rid of it. There is something about THAT notification that prevents it from being dismissed.

Jim

When I have this issue, all I do is his the lower left button to bring up the task manager? and kill the app. Then when I restart the app, it works fine

The notification won't clear because communication someplace between the base and server or server and your app has an issue. If it says you're notg connected there's nothing you can do other than to verify that the base LEDs are correct. Beyond that, killing and restarting the app can clear a display issue. Also, try a browser to help determined e if it's a network or app problem.

I have tried to be as clear as i can. There is no problem at the base unit. Other devices, this device, web browsers all access the system just fine. The base units led's are fine. Killing and restarting the app is cool, works fine, but does not clear the notification. THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS! But the notification will not swipe away. Tapping on it opens Arlo and Arlo is fine, but the notification stays. Force stopping the app stops the app, but the notification stays. The ONLY way to clear the notification is to reboot the phone.

Any other ideas?

AFAIK, the notification is a function of the app and killing the app should clear it. If it doesn't, the only thing I can think of is a faulty display driver on your device. What device and OS? Is there an OS update available? If not, you may have to factory reset the device to see if that fixes it.

I do think it's a specific issue with your device (we'd have to hear from other S7 Edge owners to be sure). Remember that you can use email notifications instead of push although there's a timing difference between the two - push is instantaneous, email is after the video finishes uploading).

I have two older Nexus devices (Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 10) using Cyanogenmod 13 (MM) with no Arlo issues. My Nexus 6 is using the downloaded stock 7.0. All are rooted. 7.x seems to cause Arlo issues, especially flipping back and forth between videos in the library. I've got an open case on this. You should probably open a case too to get someone looking at it. Might be specific to the Edge or not.

Nexus 9 (wifi) running beta 7.1.1 (NPF26F) not rooted is having no problems. Even switching between videos. I have a nexus 10, but have left it on the lastest release. Are you happy with Cyanogenmod on it? The display is starting to show some discoloration on mine. I put a new battery into it a while back, so Cyanogen might imporve its longevity. I have a six year old HP Touchpad (born with webos) running Evervolv based on 7.1. Amazing device. Kinda slow, considering its 6 now, but runs great. Arlo is fine on it! HP was so stupid to kill off Palm.

CM13 updates have slowed considerably since the recent turmoil in the company. It works well for me but the last snapshot (stable release) was back in October and only got a new nightly yesterday after a couple of weeks. I'd say go for it as long as you don't care of there's a final release.

That said, CM14 kNougat) is out for a few devices but I don't know the status on it. I hope they stay viable but it's a bit of a tossup right now.

I have the same problem as Jim. I'm using the Google Pixel, latest version of Android. The Arlo notification for "You are not connected to the internet. Please check your connection." can't be cleared. Not by swiping left, not by clearing all notifications, and not by closing the app. I've never seen this problem with any other notification from any other app.

It permanently takes up real estate in my notification window and having to reboot my phone each time it occurs is highly annoying.

In Nougat, (7.0 or 7.1) you can long press the desktop icon and tap the "App info" button. That will take you straight to where "Force Stop" is a choice in considerably less screen taps. Not a solution, but makes the workaround much easier.
