Just got my new Arlo System for home security and love it; though, I have a slight issue. The cameras are mounted indoors on my window frame looking outside. The screen distorts the images a little bit, but what can you expect, right? The PROBLEM I have is at night. The night vision adjusts for the screen and window panels so nothing is visable outside, rendering the camera pointless. If there a way to adjust the night vision or something else I can do (besides mounting outside) to get the camera to provide a usable image of the outdoors?

Thanks!

There's really nothing you can do the way they are setup,

You can not use the IR night vision when placed against a window...the glass will reflect the IR illumination back and wash out the picture.

You really need to place them outside for the night vision to function properly. ( they are weather proof btw )

The problem with putting them outside is that I live in a Condo Assosication and there are not good/secure places to mount them. So I have to mount them inside for security reasons of the camera.

Guess I'll have to play around and make something work...

You can turn off the night vision ( IR illuminators ) under settings > camera

Just use regular outside lighting and cover the camera so indoor light doesn't reflect off glass

Just remember that motion detectiwont work through glass for the wireless cameras. The use of a passive IR sensor requires the IR to be passed through the glass and normal windows won't do that.

...looks like I'm returning this thing then, nothing works as needed without the Q/Pro versions. The base model is a glorified baby monitor at best

Yes. I'm using it just that way. Just turn off night vision so the IR illuminators don't reflect off the glass and blind the camera.

Yes... I'm using a Q camera thru an Andersen window ( two pane glass ).

The pixel detection still works great. But as J mentioned, you must turn off the IR Illuminators.

Also it should be place right up against the glass AND if light come in from behind that can reflect off glass into lens. ( not a problem as mine is covered with semi sheer curtains )

Unfortunately, I may have to switch to another camera system...Arlo seems to be like Spirit Airlines. Good prices at first, but if you want anything to work more than a basic system, upgrade upgrade upgrade
