But if the 6900 hardware is the same, why couldn't it run the Arlo firmware?

Hi all, by pure coincidence I purchased from Costco an Arlo Wire-free pack as well as a new router R6900 Nighthawk to replace my old one. It wasn't until searching around that it seems an R7000 can now replace the base station for the Arlo. My question is that if the 6900 is the same but just the Costco version of the 7000, can I install the firmware to support the Arlos on the 6900 and lose the base? Anyone tried it? My cameras are paired with the base now and working but not yet mounted. THanks!

Nope. R7000 only. Firmware's different if nothing else.

We don't know that the 6900 uses the same hardware.
