What happens if camera is destroyed while recording?

I use arlo as a (pseudo-)security system with around 10 cams around the house.

Most of these are within reach of a potential intruder.

I was wondering what happens if someone is being recorded by a camera, notices the camera and then "destroys" it in a way (removing the cam smashing it on the ground, throwing a stone at it, etc....)

Would the recording be lost, or is everything streamed/uploaded in (almost) real-time?

Everything up to the moment of being turned off for any reason is captured - the video will just be short.

One of the biggest benefits of cloud streaming from a camera is that there is no local storage, and therefore it cannot be compromised by anyone in the area of the camera. This is why people are being told to live stream (rather than simply record video) from their phone during confrontations where they feel their safety may be in danger. It is difficult to destroy something remote.
