The official timezone is EST5 with daylight savings noted as EST5EDT. We're still 5 hours off Greenwich Mean Time but daylight savings time subtracts an "unofficial" hour.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/EST5EDT?previous=yes

Hi,

I have a device which is getting the time from my Nighthawk R7000. However, I am not able to set the correct time zone. I am located in EDT which is US New York (EST from Nov. 1). According to all records I should be in GMT -4, but when I set that I'm +1 hour off in the router. If I set GMT -5 I get the correct local in the router which shouldn't be happening. In the router drop down menu it says that US East, Bogota and Lima are GMT -5. That is not the case. Take a look here: http://www.timeanddate.com/time/zones/edt . I checken in my two other routers, both ASUS, and they have GMT-4 and GMT -5 working correctly (when located in the US at least). I hope this can be fixed since I assume I will run into trouble when DST is over on Nov 1.

I'm in Rochester, NY and am using GMT-5 /UMT-5 with no problem. This is the correct timezone for the east coast, not -4.

Hi,

Thanks. So the reason sites like TimeAndDate and others says GMT -4 is that we are stil DST, or? Look at the time zone indication on this page:

http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/usa/new-york

I'll set it to GMT -5 from now on! 🙂
