Hi, I installed my Arlo system with single camera back in November 2015. All was fine however about 3 weeks ago I now experience poor video recording performance. The image distorts when the camera is recording, with solid green artefacts appearing in the image. I would say about 50% of recordings that are made are now useless. I've checked my wireless settings and I don't have any interference from neighbours on the wifi channel that I'm using. The camera's battery level is showing at 2/3rds full and it has a full signal with the base station. The camera is only about 20 feet from the base station.

any ideas as to why I'd be experiencing poor recording quality all of a sudden? Thanks

There are other things that interfere with WiFi besides other WiFi. Wirels phones, microwave ovens, and anything else that uses the 2.4GHz band can be a problem. Upload speed, whether limited by the ISP or just issues with the Internet can cause issues communicating with the servers.

One thing to try is to change the Power Management in Settings to optimized or best battery life. Also, run an speed test on your connection using speedtest.net and verify that you have at least a 1Mbs upload speed.

Hi thanks for the advice. My upload speed is 18Mbs so I'm ruling that out. I have changed the power management settings for the camera from 'optimised' to 'best battery life' to see if that improves things, although the video quality is disappointing on this setting.

I find it strange that the camera was fine for almost 4 months but now I have this problem. It is mounted on my garage and next door is my neighbours garage so it isn't near any phones or microwaves.

Ok so with the "best battery life" setting I'm getting no video recording at all. I'm still receiving alerts saying that motion is detected but no videos are appearing in the library.

Do you have more than one camera to compare this behavior to? Is it happening on multiple cameras? One way to potentially isolate if the issue is with the affected camera or the location is to swap locations with one that is behaving as expected and see if you get the same results.

Hi, at the time I only had one camera setup. Yesterday I added a second camera to the setup. The only way to get my 1st camera to record videos to the library again was to delete the camera from within the App and then sync it again. This also seemed to resolve the issue with recordings breaking up and green images during recording.

However overnight at about 1:30am both cameras detected a cat outside and started recording but the image from both was breaking up, distorted and with the green background appearing. Both cameras are no more than 20ft from the base station.

could this be a base station failing issue rather than camera as its affecting 2 cameras in the same way?

It's possible. I'd bring both cameras close to the base and exercise them using your rules/modes and verify that they do or don't work properly. Also, run a speed test via speedtest.net and verify upload speeds are at least 1Mbs.

Hi, I've placed both cameras next to the base station to test and I'm still getting distorted images and the green image flashing problem. I've run a speed test and my upload speed is 18mbps. I'm starting to think I have a faulty base station, how do I contact netgear for a replacement?
