NEW ARLO APP

PLEASE,,,, go back to the old app. This new app update isn't as useful as to old app. It is also very confusing. I have had arlo for many many years now and this new app is not easy to use. It is very difficult to select specific cameras for the 4 different modes that I used to have. I now am only able to have 2 different modes.

PLEASE!

Just wanted to add my frustration to this (needed to complain somewhere). I completely agree. What a horrible "upgrade". Would love to get the old one back.

I couldn't agree more. I live with roommates in a split level house. They live on the upper 2 floors & I live on the lower 2. I used to be able to set up our geofencing so that when I left, my interior cameras turned on. Their interior cameras were set up so that they only turned on when both of them left. Thanks to the update, that is no longer possible. We've had to turn geofencing off completely because if any of us leave, all the interior cameras turn on. If you change anything, please change that feature back to the way it was. It worked perfectly. It didn't need to be upgraded or changed.

This should work regardless of the new UI. First, are both sets of cameras set up as different locations?

@jguerdat is wrong on this working with the new UI. You have four combinations that you need to work.

Just your interior cameras on (you are away, they are home)
Just their interior cameras on (you are home, they are away)
both sets of interior cameras on (everyone is away)
both sets of interior cameras off. (everyone is home).

Since you only have three modes, you can't get all four combinations to work. If you are willing to pay for two subscriptions (or use direct access to local storage), you could set up two locations (one upstairs and one downstairs). Otherwise, you'll need to wait for Arlo to add back custom modes.

I've had my Arlo cameras (H7) for 8 years, (VMB3000 Bse station). I originally was allowed 5 cameras without a subscription. Now with the updated app ot is telling me that i only have a 30 day trial period before I have to subscribe to a paid plan.

I will not be paying to get the same service for my five 8 year old cameras.

Also, the new app blew out my custom schedule I had set up.

This is the catalyst I need to finally leave Arlo.

No. You were opted into a 30 day trial, in hopes that you would then decide to subscribe. After the 30 days is over, the trial ends and you will still have the 7-day storage you've always had.

I can’t figure out how to do anything on the new app. After reading other posts I am more

confused than ever. I tried reinstalling the app it that hasn’t helped. Is it me or an app problem? Do I really need to take every camera down to reconnect it?

Why in the world would I now need to set up the cameras as being in different locations? They are in the same house. And additionally, if I were to set up separate locations for each level, would I then need to pay for two plans? It worked perfectly before. Now, instead of looking to upgrade my cameras, I am looking to replace them with cameras from a different company. I first purchased Arlo products because of the specific abilities the app had for setting up geofencing in a house with roommates. Now, that functionality is either gone or possibly only available for more money. If it’s not broken, don’t try to fix it. You’ll only frustrate & eventually lose loyal customers. Just like me. I look forward to the day I no longer own any of your products.

Please refer back to your message to me from October 20, 2025. You are the one who told me that. The problem is that the geofencing is set up for the modes & not the individual cameras. I need to be able to control the geofencing at the camera level. When I leave the house I want only one interior camera to come on. I don’t want geofencing to put the entire house in away mode because there are two roommates still there. What happens now is I leave the house? The system goes into a way mode and my roommates interior cameras turn on while they’re getting ready for work. They don’t want me watching them getting dressed, nor do I want to see it. Their interior cameras should only turn on when they both leave the house and if I’m still home, that shouldn’t trigger my interior camera to turn on. Please put geofencing control back at the individual camera level.

This is a user-to-user forum and I do not work for Arlo.

They are putting back custom modes, after that is complete you will have more options.
