Wirefree doorbell AVD2001 to Smarthub vmb4540

Hello,

Does anyone know how to connect the AVD2001 wire-free doorbell to the vmb4540 Smarthub?

I've managed to connect my Smarthub to the ultra camera, however can only connect the doorbell via the WiFi. Having local storage was the key feature for me.

I'm using the latest Android app.

The setup for every component has been very time consuming and frustrating.

Unfortunately you can't. The AVD1001 doorbell supports that feature, but the AVD2001 does not.

I don't know.

If it's essential to you, you might consider exchanging it for the AVD1001. You do need power from a compatible transformer though.

FWIW, if your doorbell has a busy street or sidewalk in the field of view, the AVD1001 is a better option.

I'm would like to keep the wireless capability.

This KB article says that the wire-free doorbell is compatible. Is there anyone from the Arlo support team that can comment on this?

Just to clarify - the AVD1001 also uses wifi to connect (either to a base or your home network). It gets power through your existing doorbell circuitry (or a suitable power adapter).

My front door faces a fairly busy street and sidewalk. I control the amount of recording with activity zones - but every car or person that goes by still triggers a video stream to the cloud (which then drops video that has no one in the zone). An AVD2001 would be a bad choice for that location - it would need to be recharged far too often.

My back door would be suitable for either model.

It doesn't actually say that. Note the comma between Wire-Free and Video Doorbell. The "Wire-Free" refers to the old Wire-Free camera. The "Video Doorbell" is confusing, but it refers to the AVD1001, not the AVD2002 wirefree doorbell.

If you look at the two user manuals, the AVD1001 includes information on how to pair the doorbell with the base. The AVD2001 doesn't include that section.

@JamesC says that Arlo is planning to add the feature to the AVD2001 here: https://community.arlo.com/t5/Arlo-Video-Doorbell-Wire-Free/ADV2001-Video-doorbell-and-VMB4540r2/m-p/1821700#M587

But there is no ETA - so I wouldn't count on it being done anytime soon. Plus, plans can change - so I wouldn't take his statement as a guarantee that it will be implemented.
