topic Battery life of Video Doorbell when using with Base Station in Arlo Video Doorbell Wire-Free

I have a Wireless Video Doorbell and previously had it connected directly to Wi-Fi. Then I noticed due to a firmware update it can connect to the Base Station. I definitely want to use it with the base station since with a future firmware update I know it'll work with Apple's Home app which is what I'm interested in. Yet I read that if you use it with a Base Station you have improved battery life. I have the opposite. With no change in use or motion I now only get 1/3 to 1/2 the battery life I used to get. Is there any reason I'm getting such lower battery life now that I'm using it with the base station and have the firmware update?

It could be a firmware issue.

Another possibility is that the base wifi signal might not be as good at the doorbell location. Is the base near the router? Do you use a mesh (or have extenders)?
