The angle bracket only turns the doorbell left and right to get a somewhat better angle for those approaching the door. That may help, depending on your exact situation - testing would be needed. The distance for detection depends on the direction of motion (across the FOV is better but I find directly at the doorbell works well) as well as the sensitivity setting. Since your doorbells aren't aimed at the street, the default settings would seem to be reasonable. I happen to use a sensitivity setting of 45 because it's aimed at the street and can get folks approaching out to ~15 feet or so if the motion is more side to side (directly at the camera gets me coming up the steps so 8-10 feet away).

I purchased 2 essential video doorbells. My front and back doors do not face the street but face my neighbors houses. Will the doorbell detect people walking up the sidewalks? Or only see them when they get to rhe doir? Will the angle plate make much of a difference?
