Wired Video doorbell weather proof

Hello all!

I have the doorbell mounted next to my front door and, due to necessity, on vinyl siding. The siding is narrow enough so that the doorbell can’t sit anywhere where the back is completely flush against the siding. In fact it straddles a separation between two siding ‘slats’. Thus the opening in the back of the doorbell is open to the air for the most part.

Now there is an overhang above the door and doorbell so it won’t rain directly onto the doorbell, but it may get some mist or spray if it’s windy enough.

So anyways I’m worried about the wire connections in the back being exposed and stuff? I’m tempted to spray some monofoam into the back to cover everything up. Thanks for reading!

Foam might work, but could be tricky to fully remove later on.

You could use a mounting block. Then use a silicon sealant to keep water from getting in between the mounting block and the doorbell base.

If you want to avoid needing more screws, you can longer screws to attach the doorbell base to the house, and clamp mounting block between the doorbell base and the siding.
