ARLO Chime (AC2001) Consuming a massive amount of bandwidth

I have had some bad connection issues in the recent past and I started investigating.

I was suspecting my doorbell (Arlo Wire-Free Video Doorbell), as it needs recharging every 2-3 months, and I thought it was constantly streaming video for whatever reason.

After further investigation, however, it turns out that it's the Chime which consumed in the previous day 150GB between upload/download.

Has anyone experienced this? What could be the reason?

I don't know what's going on but something is definitely amiss. I don't see any usage on mine and overall usage doesn't reflect any Arlo device, including 2 hubs, saturating my cable connection. Have you unplugged the chime to see if usage drops and then plugged it back in to see what happens then?

Despite restarting it, it still consumed 500MB in a day (see image).

The problem persists, and I had to block internet access to it

I suppose the next step is to remove the chime from your account and add it back in. Any difference?

And if that doesn't work, swap at the store or use the app to go to Settings, Support, select your chime and scroll down to Contacts to talk to official support.

nothing worked so far. I tried contacting support, no replies yet. I'm a bit disappointed, considering how much my Arlo system costed (plus the monthly fee for recordings etc)

I'd like to share my frustration with this product (a 50 bucks doorbell, if you think about it).

- I had the issue with the bandwidth consumption

- I removed and tried to reset the device, but didn't work

- I wrote to support. No answer

- I assumed an issue with my Chime, which was a couple of years old and out of warranty

- I then bought a new one, hoping it would have worked

- It still does not work, and I now see that there's a widespread issue with this Chime (see: https://community.arlo.com/t5/Arlo/Chime-2-IOS-Apple-setup-error/m-p/1937965)

pretty disappointing, especially the lack of updates. it takes a minute to write "we are still working on it - sorry about it"

I don't know whether to laugh or cry about this but the new chime I bought (Chime 2), does exactly the same as the previous one.

it downloaded 180GB in one day - I am considering canceling all my subscriptions to Arlo, selling the doorbell and going back to a basic chime. this is ridiculous, 1 month waiting for support to write back

While the dev team continues to review the details you've already provided, do you have any examples of other devices on your network (Arlo or otherwise) and how much bandwidth they are using for comparison?

Hi James, most of the devices are laptops and the data seems to correspond to the type of usage we make of them.

What should I be looking for?

Just an example of another device and it's usage during the same period using the same tool you used for the Chime would be helpful.

Also, the make/model of your router would be good information for the dev team to potentially try and replicate the behavior.

Here is an example of a laptop on the network. This bandwidth is likely *correct* as we work from home.
