Question Re: Is Chime necessary? in Arlo-Video-Doorbell-Wire-Free-QA-2020-12

Essential Video Doorbell Wire-Free does not currently support connection to any Arlo basestation or Arlo SmartHub. It connects directly to your home WiFi network (2.4 GHz). It is still capable of cross-triggering your other Arlo cameras and chimes (go to Modes and create custom interactions that meet your desired needs via the Arlo App).

Essential Video Doorbell Wire-Free can be optionally hardwired to an existing 8-24V AC doorbell wiring outlet to ring your traditional digital or mechanical chimes (not intercom). If you've installed your doorbell wire-free, you can still ring an Arlo Chime as long as the Chime itself is connected to a compatible basestation or you can setup an Alexa / Google device to do the same. A new Arlo Chime 2 that can connect direct to your home WiFi is in the works and will be available in Q1'2021.

Will this connect to the base case for my Arlo 3 cameras and if so, do I need buy a separate chime to hear it inside? Does Arlo sell the chime as well and what does that connect to?
