Arlo Doorbell (2nd Gen)

I replaced my Arlo Video Doorbell (1st Gen) with the 2nd Gen. I went through all the instructions for the "wired" option. Have had to remove and charge the camera twice within a week. Everything works fine, video, audio and doorbell (mechanical). Why is this camera not holding a charge if it does indeed have the "wired" option? Now, I have to take it down again to recharge (3rd time) and it won't charge at all with an Arlo charger and cable. ??????????

Any response back? I also upgraded from the previous gen which was wired and I'm confused as to why this one is showing a battery (currently 88% down from 100%) despite being wired, just like my previous gen doorbell...

There is a charging threshold (I don't recall what it is, but it is lower than 88%). The goal for that is to maximize the battery life.

What does this mean? Does it start to charge once it falls below 88%?
Is there an indicator that it’s receiving power?

I set up my doorbell with a wired connection. The battery started to die since the transformer wasn’t working. I replaced it and it’s giving power, but I don’t see any indication in the app that it is receiving power. It’s currently at 94% so I’m assuming it should start charging some point…

I don't think Arlo has a real answer for this. My doorbell is sitting at 75% currently. Based on what support told me it should trickle charge (no indicator btw)

after it reaches a certain number (appears to be different depending on who you talk to). I thought maybe it would trickle charge at night when there's no movement from deliveries, guests, kids etc. But no it doesn't. I haven't had it die on me YET so I've just given up trying to figure out why the battery even discharges if it's hardwired ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

It starts to charge when the power level drops to 65%, and stops charging when it reaches 80%

Any luck with resolving your issue? I’m having the same exact issue as you, I went from generation 1 which was great just had to be replaced due to sun damage. 2nd generation been a nightmare. Doesn’t hold charge, I have to take unit off to recharge it . It’s initially held a charge for a few months than I had to start charging inside my house and reconnect it once it hits 100%. Battery lasting only 12 days now. Customer service wants to trouble shoot but it’s not easy to do when out of town. So this doorbell been more of a headache.

I’m having the same problem. Upgraded from Gen 1 to Gen 2. Voltage is within range from my doorbell wiring. No charge indicated from the charge icon. Why doesn’t this charge?

How full is the battery? Gen 2 won't charge until the battery level drops to ~60%. Then it charges up to about 80%.

Not really. I can say that at least mine doesn't die like your doorbell is doing but it's always different percentages and charging thresholds that I'm told by support so who knows what the real answer is. I hope you figure it out!
