Arlo 2 Ultra upgrade questions...

Hi guys,

I'm about to upgrade my Arlo system from a 3 camera Arlo Pro 1-system to a 3 camera Arlo Ultra 2-system.

At the moment, at least in Germany, I cannot find any vendor selling the Smart Hub for the Ultra 2. Neither stand alone nor in a package with 3 cameras.

My questions are:

Can you recommend the switch to the Ultra system?

Does the regular Ultra Smart Hub (VMB5000) also support Ultra 2 cameras?

Yes. To be clear, there are only two smarthub models - the VMB4540 and the VMB5000. The VMB5000 is the one normally sold with the Ultra and Ultra 2s, but it is not the only option.

Note the Ultra models (like all current Arlo cameras) require a subscription to get cloud storage. If you are getting a subscription, then you can use any VMB4xxx hub with the Ultras.

But if you are looking for direct access to local storage, then you would need either the VMB4540 or the VMB5000.

Direct Access to Local Storage has a lot of restrictions, so I would recommend getting the subscription (no matter what hub you end up with).
