Having issues with the night and not giving a clear image for a few yards in front at night , I’ve got my camera set up in the drive way over the top of the shed and cars when it’s dark I can o to pick up the reflective number plates

Is the spotlight turned off? If it's on, then you are probably using low-light color mode, and not NightVision. NightVision uses infrared (and is rendered gray-scale in the image).

Also, are the car headlights/tail lights on when you are capturing the video? Glare from the car lights will make the license impossible to read.
